Charlotte, NC — Tiger Woods, the 2007 Wells Fargo Championship winner, confirmed Thursday that he will compete in next week’s Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club.
Woods, winner of 79 PGA TOUR titles, will return to Quail Hollow Club for the first time since 2012. In his six previous starts, he has finished T3 (2004), T11 (2005), 1st (2007), 4th (2009) and missed the cut in both 2010 and 2012. Woods’ victory at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2007 was his first– and so far only — win in the state of North Carolina.
“Obviously we are excited to have Tiger coming back to compete in our tournament but to also have him healthy and competing on the PGA TOUR this year,” Tournament Director Gary Sobba said. “His win here in 2007 was one of the memorable moments in our tournament history.”
Woods, winner of 14 major championship titles, is one of six past champions who have won major championships during their career. This group includes David Toms, Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Rory McIlroy and Lucas Glover.
Players have until 5pm Friday to commit to the Wells Fargo Championship and can withdraw from the tournament at any time.
