Body Of Missing Woman Found, Two Charged With Murder

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged Richard Jordan Jr., 38, and Ashley Helms, 24, with the kidnapping and murder of Alexus Fraley.
Alexus Fraley’s body was discovered in the 9300 block of Dixie River Road around 1:45 a.m., on Friday morning.
According to the CMPD, Richard Jordan and Alexus Fraley were acquaintances and had a dispute at some point before her death. Police have not said how Ashley and Alexus were associated.
Police believe Fraley was killed shortly after she was reported missing but the manner of her death is unknown at this time. Tips from the community helped lead the arrest of Richard Jordan Jr., according to the CMPD.
Helms was arrested by SLED agents in North Myrtle Beach, SC Friday afternoon.
Jordan and Helms are both charged with Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Murder.
The investigation is ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide and Missing Persons units are asking for help in locating Alexus Alize Fraley.
Ms. Fraley was last seen at around 5:00 a.m. the morning of April 13, 2018 in the 8000 block of Eaglewind Drive. Ms. Fraley was last seen wearing a blue and white striped dress, tan sandals, and carrying a Kate Spade purse.
Anyone who has seen Ms. Fraley since Friday, April 13, 2018, is asked to call 911 immediately.
Detectives with both the CMPD Homicide and Missing Persons units are investigating this case because the circumstances of Ms. Fraley’s disappearance indicate that she may be in danger.

Dudley is the lead detective assigned to the case. Crime Stoppers offers reward money for information and does not require callers to identify themselves.
