Wesley Chapel Home Destroyed After BMW Catches Fire In Garage

WESLEY CHAPEL, NC — A home was destroyed Friday afternoon after fire officials say a BMW stored in the garage caught fire.

The fire happened at a home on Couples Court around 2pm. Investigators say the fire started in the engine of a BMW the family had stored in the garage.

The BMW belonged to the husband and wife living at the home. Officials say the wife was at home when the fire started and managed to escape unharmed.

It took about 40 firefighters from three departments about an hour to get the fire under control, and about four and a half more to put it out.

Damages are estimated at around $400,000. Officials say the home is a complete loss.
