Race For Mecklenburg County Sheriff: Sheriff Irwin Carmichael

CHARLOTTE, NC — More than 12,000 people have voted early in Charlotte-Mecklenburg ahead of next week’s primary election. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s race is one of the most highly-contested races. Rising is talking to all three Sheriff’s candidates to get their stance on several hot-button issues impacting the race.

After retiring from the fire department,  Irwin Carmichael made captain at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office in 2013. He was elected sheriff in 2014.
