Widen I-77 Holds Town Hall Meeting To Discuss Future Plans For The Toll Lanes

MOORESVILLE, NC — It was a packed house at the Charles Mack Citizen Center Thursday night to discuss how to get rid of the I-77 toll lanes once construction is complete.

Widen I-77, the group that once advocated to stop toll lane construction, is now pushing for them to be completed. After that completion however, they say the lanes should be used as general purpose lanes.

The group says it is confident going forward.

Kurt Naas with Widen I-77 says, “For the first time in months, after a string of defeats, we see a clear path forward to canceling this contract and coming up with a solution that works for everybody.”

The town hall was in response to new recommendations from an I-77 advisory group.
