Local High School Students Make Prom Promise Not To Drink And Drive

MATTHEWS, NC — Students are pledging to not drink on prom night after a mock drunk driving crash at Butler High School Friday afternoon.

Matthews Police, Fire, and Medic responded to the simulated scene. Organizers brought in crashed cars and student actors who had fake injuries.

Students say it was disturbing to see their friends in the mock crash.

Senior Jaime Mull says, “I was scared for my friends. And it was kind of shocking to see stuff like that actually happens. While it’s fake here, it’s real somewhere else.”

Butler High School’s prom starts at 8pm Saturday.
