Passenger Cited After Officials Find Gun At Charlotte Douglas TSA Checkpoint

CHARLOTTE, NC — A North Carolina man was issued a citation after TSA officers spotted a loaded handgun inside his carry-on Monday morning.

Officials say the incident happened at Checkpoint B inside the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. TSA officers say they spotted a loaded .32 L.W. SeeCamp handgun inside the passenger’s carry-on as it passed through the X-ray machine.

CMPD questioned the passenger, and issued a citation for Carrying a Weapon on Airport Property.

The TSA says 24 firearms have been detected at CLT security checkpoints so far this year. They located 68 at CLT last year.

Officials remind passengers that there is a right way and a wrong way to travel with a firearm. Those guidelines can be found by clicking here.
