Domestic Dispute Heats Up As Couple Continues To Argue Inside Burning Home

MORGANTON, NC — Officials are still investigating after a house goes up in flames during a domestic dispute.

Deputies say a call for a structure fire and domestic disturbance came in around 8:47am Thursday at a home on Watts Street. The caller reportedly told 911 that the victim had set fire to the house, and was being assaulted by a man named Joshua Silvers.

According to the caller, Silvers and the victim continued to argue as the house burned and were refusing to come out.

Officials say Silvers had a bleeding head wound when deputies finally removed both of them from the house, but he refused treatment. Silvers was  arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.

The Burke County Fire Marshal is continuing to investigate the fire.
