Tip Leads To Two Arrests, 2000 Poppy Plants Seized In Alexander County
ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Two people have been arrested in connection with a poppy plant growing operation in Alexander County.
Deputies following up on a tip went to a residence on Cloyd Moore Lane in Taylorsville, North Carolina, where they located two plots being used to grow poppy plants for producing opium.
According to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, more than 2000 poppy plants were seized.
Xee Yang, 61, and Cha Yang, 61, were both arrested and charged with Trafficking a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Dwelling For a Controlled Substance, and Manufacturing a Schedule I Controlled Substance.
