MAIDEN, NC — Police have arrested the man they say tried to rob a Food Lion at gun point Monday afternoon.
Bobby Lee Drum, 40, is accused of attempted armed robbery at the store located on Island Ford Road around 1pm. Police say he entered the store and demanded money while grabbing an employee and pointing a pistol.
Drum gave up and left the store, police say, after the employee struggled and refused to comply with his demands. Drum reportedly got into a green pick-up parked behind the store and sped off.
Officials say suspect descriptions and photographs helped investigators quickly identify Drum as the suspect. He was arrested and charged with Felony Attempted Armed Robbery and Assault by Pointing a Gun.
Drum is being held under a $27,000 secured bond.
