Rising Concerns In Union County As Group Of Criminals Become More Violent
UNION COUNTY, NC– There are concerns that a group of criminals is getting more violent. Investigators say there have been at least five home invasions and several other robberies over the past week in Union County. The latest incident happened in Mint Hill. Police tell WCCB a man was violently assaulted and then forced inside of his home. The suspects kidnapped a woman who was inside and forced her to drive them to an ATM to get money.
The Union County Sheriff’s office says three suspects robbed several victims in Indian trail, Monroe, and Wesley Chapel within hours of each other. The crimes happened on May 9th and 10th. The men were wearing hoods, so investigators don’t have much to go on. Police say three young men with guns tried to pull a man out of his car on Makin Drive in Indian trail, luckily he called police.
A few hours later at a house on Idlewild Road, police say the same suspects tied a victim up while they robbed him. The victim’s son tells WCCB, his father was pistol-whipped.
As detectives continue to investigate, they’re warning the community to be alert.
