Lincoln County Man Arrested For Attempted Murder Following Domestic Dispute

DENVER, NC — A Lincoln County man has been charged with attempted murder following a domestic dispute over the weekend.

The incident happened around 2am Sunday at a home on Cactus Lane after deputies say the victim sent a breakup message to the suspect and told him to come get his things. Deputies say 32-year-old Timothy Alexander arrived at the home a short time later and kicked in the door.

Alexander assaulted the victim by choking her, according to officials, and fired several shotgun rounds in her direction after retrieving the weapon from a back closet.

He then reportedly chased the victim and her friend into some nearby woods after they ran out of the back door to escape.

Responding deputies found Alexander at the edge of the woods when they arrived and say he surrendered without incident.

No injuries were reported. Deputies say they did recover a .380 caliber handgun and a 20-gauge shotgun.

Alexander is charged with Attempted Murder, Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property, and Breaking and Entering a Building. He is also charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
