The New Owner Of The Carolina Panthers Is Ready To Take The Reins, Despite Richardson Investigation

ATLANTA, GA —Β David tepper is having a self-described ‘heck of a week,’ but the billionaire businessman still has to wait until July to officially take over in Carolina.

The NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell are glad to have Tepper for the future, as the league tries to put the scandal surrounding Jerry Richardson in the past.

Roger Goodell says, “We’re excited to have David in the league, and he has been sitting in the room. And we look forward to having his leadership of the Panthers going forward.”

David Tepper didn’t stop to answer any questions today, but he was in meetings with NFL owners in Atlanta, without a vote yet, soaking in what’s to come.

Tepper was vocal and relaxed during an introductory press conference Tuesday after his bid to buy the Panthers got unanimous approval.

Trying to calm Carolina fans, while not saying too much, Tepper said,Β “Charlotte is the logical place for stadium. As far as a new stadium, again, you’re asking me too much, and I cannot. The only thing I have a market on right now is so lack of knowledge. I’ll call stupidity. So I got that down.”

Commissioner Goodell was asked about the NFL investigation into allegations of sexual and racial harassment and discrimination against Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, and the claims that the league and investigator Mary Jo White are not taking it seriously.

“Mary Jo White is highly respected, with greatest integrity, and she would not be involved with anything that’s a farce,” says Goodell.

“She has her own procedures and policies. We’re going to allow her to complete her job. And when she’s completed her job, then we’ll take it from there.”
