Charlotte Remembers Our Nation’s Bravest This Memorial Day

CHARLOTTE, NC — Veterans and community members gathered in east Charlotte this Memorial Day to remember those who have died in service to our country.

American flags lined the graves at Sharon Memorial Park, where firefighters flew a flag from a fire truck. Veterans, service members and family of those who died watched as an honor guard placed a wreath at a memorial for all American veterans.

We spoke with Vietnam veteran John Craig, who says he’s grateful people take time to honor those who died serving the country.

“War can be quite… you hope you survive it,” said Craig. “There’s much tragedy. Warfare over the years is an on-going thing. You hope eventually peace will come to the whole world.”

You can visit the Veterans Memorial at Sharon Memorial Park year-round.
