High Country Roads Close Due To Flooding

BLOWING ROCK, NC — People in the mountains are preparing for more possible flooding. WCCB crews spotted standing water along Highway 321 in the Hickory area after a downpour Tuesday evening.

Several roads in the mountains were closed because of flooding.

Parts of the high country have seen anywhere from eight to 15 inches of rain in the last two weeks.

Blowing Rock resident, Mark Scruggs says, “There’s more flooding than I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve lived up there most of my life. The water has no where to run and so it just pools up in the streets, and it makes for hazardous driving.”
