CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person has been killed in a motorcycle accident in northwest Charlotte. The accident happened on Oakdale Road between Shady Circle and Oak Drive.
Officers say they responded to the crash and found Daniel Dockery II, 18, unresponsive in the front yard of a home on Oakdale Road.
Police say the investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling south on Oakdale Road at a high rate of speed when it came up on a slower traveling passenger car. The motorcyclist reportedly passed the passenger car on the left and lost control as he reentered the southbound lane.
The motorcycle ran off the road and traveled through several yards before it struck two trees, according to a news release. Dockery was ejected off the motorcycle.
Police say Dockery did not have motorcycle endorsement on his North Carolina driver’s license. Speed is also a factor in this case, according to a news release. Police say that section of Oakdale Road is marked for no passing.
Investigators also determined the motorcycle was reported stolen early this morning. Police say it is unknown if the driver stole the motorcycle or received it from another person.
