Veterans Memorial Garden To Be Constructed In Indian Trail
INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — The Town of Indian Trail announces its plan to develop the Indian Trail Veterans Memorial Garden with the help of the local community and partnering with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2423 of Indian Trail.
Planned to be centrally located on the quad in front of Indian Trail Town Hall, this garden is purposed to provide a place for veterans and their families to honor those loved ones lost and peacefully reflect on the great duty these men and women served to our country.
Indian Trail Director of Communications Mike Parks thanks veterans of the local VFW Post saying, “These men and women are the backbone of our community, and they continue to give back to our town through their volunteerism and leadership well after their military service concluded.”
Town officials designed the garden with the support of these local veterans. They envision it enclosed by a wall of plaques honoring their military service and memorializing loved ones upon request by their families.
“Our finest ideals and values as a nation are embodied in the members of our military whose sacrifices too often go unnoticed and unacknowledged,” said Indian Trail Mayor Pro Tem David Cohn, connecting the broad sense of gratitude for our veterans to the personal significance of the Memorial for the town.
To petition a Memorial plaque, the Town of Indian Trail requests families donate to the cause of the development of the garden, with donations beginning at $100. Additionally, all community members are invited to donate to support the project, even if they are not seeking a plaque. One opportunity to do so is participating in an upcoming golf tournament to benefit the construction of the Memorial.
“It is our goal to build the Indian Trail Veterans Memorial Garden which will serve as a permanent statement of our community’s gratitude and support for those whose lives have been dedicated to the protection of our freedom,” Mayor Cohn continues.
