CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Clyde Cumberlander, a victim of a hit and run on North Tryon Street on Tuesday, May 29th, has died as a result of his injuries.
Cumberlander was found by police on the road in the 5000 block of North Tryon Street, after receiving a call early in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 29th and was transported by MEDIC with life-threatening injuries. The driver that had struck the pedestrian fled the scene but witnesses gave a description of the vehicle.
North Tryon Division officers located the vehicle and driver a short time later and arrested Joshua Elliott Greene, 20. The vehicle he was driving was a Volkswagen Passat.
Clyde Cumberlander, 74, was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, June 6th as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit has been assigned this case as a result of Cumberlander’s death.
