South Charlotte Hit-And-Run Victim On Road To Recovery

CHARLOTTE, NC — We’re hearing from a man whose tight grip saved his son’s life, but almost cost him his own.

Fort Mill resident Nate Green was the victim of a hit-and-run back in April. He tells WCCB his inspiring road to recovery.

When you meet Nate Green, right away you can tell he’s a ‘glass half full’ type of person. But his optimism was tested. Nate says he and his son, Wilke, were walking into the Harris Teeter on Rea Road to grab some dinner around 5:30.

“We were walking in it was some kind of commotion, and there was a car that came right in, so I went to turn and look to see what was going on,” says Green.

Police say a teen stole a case of beer from the store, he jumped into his getaway car that hit Nate and his four-year-old son and took off.

“We got hit and I was just trying to squeeze, so he didn’t hit the ground that much then my hands were tied up so I just hit my head.”

Wilke had a deep gash on his head and a concussion. Nate tells WCCB he couldn’t move for months, suffering a fractured skull. Today, he can’t smell or taste.

“It worries me a little bit am I eating rotten food. The other day I was cleaning with bleach and didn’t know, it started burning my hands and I said oh no this is bleach I thought I had a different one.”

Seven weeks later, 21-year-old Noah Llambias turned himself in. He faces several charges including assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Nate says he’s not angry and wants to keep moving forward.

“The realization that it can be all over, the stuff you have to pay attention to before. Now this part of the case is helping me to know that there can be closure people can learn from it and will be all for nothing.”

Police are looking for 21-year-old Isaiah Staley. He has an outstanding warrant for Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Injury.

20-year-old Ralph Hall is also wanted for Larceny and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Injury.

As for Noah Llambias, today he was given a court appointed attorney and his next court date is June 27th.
