Upcoming Utility Work Will Force Several Road Closures In Monroe

MONROE, NC — Officials are warning drivers to be prepared for road closures as several utility improvement projects get underway.

The City of Monroe Water Resources Construction Division will begin several projects in the coming weeks. During that time, officials say residents will experience temporary disruptions in traffic and some water service.

On June 18th, crews will begin replacing an existing galvanized water main on Redwine Street that has reached the end of its service life. The project is expected to be complete by July 30th.

Officials say residents will experience temporary traffic disruptions during that time, as well as a short term water service interruption while the reconnection is made to the new main.

Another project will also begin on June 18th. Crews will be installing a new sanitary sewer on Leewood Drive, which should be complete by June 29.

Officials say traffic disruptions should be expected.

Anyone with additional questions regarding these projects can call the City of Monroe Water Resources Department at 704-282-4601.
