Police Make Arrests After Teen Shot, Killed In Southwest Charlotte

UPDATE: Authorities have charged 18-year-old Marvin Chevez-Quiffaro with murder.  He was located and arrested this morning by VCAT. Chavez-Quiffaro will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County jail.


CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department have charged two men for their involvement in the death of 18-year-old Terale Claridy-Vaught who was shot and killed in southwest Charlotte late Sunday night.

Police were called to a home around 10:30 p.m. in the the 14400 block of Carolina Forest Road in the Steele Creek area where they heard gunshots fired nearby.

Claridy-Vaught was found shot dead in the roadway on Carolina Forest Road. His family has been notified of his death.

Eighteen-year-old Jalen Boulware and Marvin Chevez-Quiffarro both voluntarily came to CMPD Police Headquarters to turn themselves in. Boulware was charged with murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied property. Chevez-Quiffarro was charged with accessory after the fact to murder. The teens are now in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail.
