Charlotte Weighs Rules For Electric Scooters

The city is still figuring out all the rules for the electric scooters.
They’ve only been on Charlotte streets for a little more than a month.
It’s part of a pilot program that ends in October.
The city has rules for where you should park them, but there are no ordinances that address how and where you should ride them.
The city does encourage you to wear a helmet, but that’s not required, and you must follow traffic laws.
Since the scooter are so new, CMPD can’t tell us if anyone has been ticketed or gotten into an accident while driving one.
