Man Dies After Being Pinned Between Truck, Camper

SALISBURY, NC — A 63-year-old man was killed Thursday after he became pinned between his camper and truck bed in Rowan County.

The incident happened around 11:30am at the Tamarac Marina Campground on Blackfoot Lane while officials say Arthur David Burrow was trying to hook a camper up to his truck.

Burrow’s wife told deputies she was backing their truck up so her husband could put the linchpin in place when the camper fell and pinned him in between. She quickly flagged down two women nearby, who were also nurses, and called 911.

The women attempted to administer what aid they could until Burrow could be freed. Officials say Burrow was pinned for about 10 minutes, and remained unconscious while struggling to breath during that time.

An employee at the campground used a tractor to lift the camper off Burrow, at which point rescuers tried for 45 minutes to revive him.

Burrow was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after noon.
