PSA Airlines To Resume Flight Operations Friday Afternoon After Technical Glitch Leaves Hundreds Stranded
UPDATE: Charlotte Douglas airport officials say PSA Airlines, the American Airlines subsidiary, plans to resume all flight operations today at noon. People are still stranded at the airport after a technical glitch that caused more than 120 PSA flights to be cancelled on Thursday.
CHARLOTTE, NC — More than 100 flights were canceled Thursday night at Charlotte Douglas International Airport due to a technical issue.
Officials say PSA Airlines, which is a regional carrier of American Airlines, was forced to cancel flights for the remainder of the evening due to a technical issue. Around 275 flights total have been impacted by the cancellation, including roughly 120 at CLT Airport.
Social media posts made by travelers show hundreds of people now stranded in Charlotte. One Twitter user says she overheard a pilot saying, “I’ve seen it bad. I’ve never seen it this bad.”
A spokesperson with American Airlines says they are working with PSA to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. They are also working to accommodate customers through mainline flights and other regional carriers.
In a statement released Thursday night, American Airlines said, “We never want to disrupt our customersβ travel plans, and we are sorry for the trouble this caused. Our customer relations team will be reaching out to all of those who have been impacted by this issue.”
Travelers should check the status of their flight on the American Airlines app or online before heading to the airport.
