Alexander County Man Arrested For Attacking Wife With Machete

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Officers of the Alexander County Sheriff’s Department have arrested 45-year-old Fredi Lorenzana-Chev Alonso for an alleged attack on his wife with a machete.

On Sunday, June 17th, police responded to a call made to Alexander County Communications regarding an apparent stabbing on BB Lane of the Hiddenite Community of Taylorsville, NC. When arriving on the scene, officers found a woman bleeding from a wound on her head. Further investigation revealed she had been struck by a machete to cause the injury. The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was treated and released later that day.

Alonso, the woman’s husband, was on the premises when officers arrived. Police ordered Alonso to step outside the residence and show his hands. Alonso complied without conflict, and officials transported him to the Alexander County Detention Center.

Alonso has been charged with “Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, Interfering with Emergency Communication and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with a Minor Present,” according to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. He awaits his first court appearance on Monday, June 25th in Alexander County District Court.
