RALEIGH, NC — Governor Cooper announced Tuesday he will recall the National Guard members deployed to assist at the U.S./Mexico border.
Cooper says in a statement, “The cruel policy of tearing children away from their parents requires a strong response, and I am recalling the three members of the North Carolina National Guard from the border.”
Past administrations, including Presidents Bush and Obama, have requested assistance at the U.S. southern border, which North Carolina has provided.
Currently, North Carolina has deployed three National Guard members and one helicopter.
