Rest Home Resident Still Missing Five Months After Disappearance

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Officials have failed to locate missing Boger City Rest Home resident Richard Keith Perdue over the past five months since his disappearance.

The 53-year-old man walked away from the facility around 8:30 PM on January 22, 2018. He was last seen leaving through a side door attached to Boger City Rest Home, located on Little Valley Trail in Lincolnton, NC. Rest home staff did not notify police of Perdue’s disappearance until two hours after he left the building. Deputies of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office conducted a preliminary search of the surrounding area, but were unsuccessful in finding Perdue.

The Lincoln County Special Operations and Land Search Team launched a larger search on January 31, 2018, covering a 300-meter diameter of surrounding land with the help of Sheriff’s deputies, detectives and a drone operator. The drone was employed to capture aerial views of areas with terrain not navigable by foot. Officials were unable to locate the man or evidence of his whereabouts with the search.

Perdue is a white male with black hair and blue eyes, standing at about 5’5″ tall and weighing 135 pounds. He suffers various medical conditions and abnormal psychological disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia. Perdue is not familiar to the Lincoln County area and does not have relatives in North Carolina.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has exhausted all of their possible leads. They ask anyone with details regarding the whereabouts of Perdue to please contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at (704)732-9050, the Lincoln County Communications Center at (704)735-8202 or Lincolnton/Lincoln County Crime Stoppers at (704)736-8909.
