Man Charged After Shooting At North Charlotte Wendy’s, No Injuries Reported

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Wendy’s employee is accused of firing a shotgun at a customer’s car at a Wendy’s restaurant in north Charlotte on Friday.

Officers with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department were called around 1:30 a.m. to the Wendy’s at 5214 Sunset Road where they learned that an argument between two customers and employees led to a shooting.

Police say two adult female customers in a Dodge Charger had ordered food at the Wendy’s drive-thru and were waiting in the parking lot for an employee to bring out the food. When the adult female employee brought out the order, an altercation occurred and one of the customers and the employee began fighting.

As the fight progressed, the other customer got out of her car. At the same time, an adult male employee of the restaurant fired a shotgun into the car.

The Wendy’s employee who carried out the shooting has been identified as 22-year-old Xavier McCree. He has been charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits.

CMPD says no one was hit or injured by the shotgun pellets. Only the two people fighting received minor injuries during their altercation.

The shotgun used in the assault has been located and seized.
