Decomposed Body Found In Burke County Identified As Triple Homicide Suspect

The Latest:

Burke County authorities have identified a decomposed body found last week near Henrys Glen Drive in Morganton as 61-year-old Kenneth Douglas Powell.

Powell was the person of interest in a June 8th triple homicide in Morganton.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office the body was found with multiple forms of identification.  A revolver found at the scene is being tested for ballistic evidence and the results are pending.

MORGANTON, N.C. — Officials say they are looking for a ‘person of interest’ after three people were found dead inside a home in Morganton.

Deputies are looking for 61-year-old Kenneth Douglas Powell, of Morganton. Powell is described as a white male, 5’11”, 180lbs, with green eyes and brown hair.

Officials responded to a home on Enola Road just before 8am in reference to a deceased person.  Upon arrival, deputies found three total people dead and recovered a young child who was unharmed.

Anyone with information on Powell’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
