Authorities Identify Lake Wylie Drowning Victim

LAKE WYLIE, S.C. — Authorities have identified the man who drowned after falling or jumping into Lake Wylie early Sunday morning.

The CMPD says 911 received a call about a possible drowning on Lake Wylie at 2:16 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Steele Creek Division Lake Patrol responded to the scene as well as the Charlotte-Fire Department, the Steele Creek Volunteer Fire Department and the York County Sherriff’s Office’s Lake Unit.

The Charlotte Fire Department found body of 62-year-old Victor Albert Wiggins at approximately 11:45 a.m.  Detectives say there is no indication of foul play in Mr. Wiggins’ death.

According to the CMPD, four individuals were on a boat in the Lake at a sandbar located near the 9000 block of Nine Eagles Lane, when Mr. Wiggins either jumped or fell into the water.
