NEWTON, NC — A man is facing multiple charges after his girlfriend told police she was held captive at his home for three days and assaulted multiple times.
Daniel Ray Farnsworth, 24, is charged with 2nd Degree Kidnapping, Assault on a Female, and Assault by Strangulation.
Officials say the victim had several serious injuries to her face, neck, ear, arms, ribs, and torso when she came into the lobby of the Newton Police Department around 3:40am Monday. She told officers she and her dog had just escaped her boyfriend’s home where she was held captive and assaulted for nearly three days.
Due to the severity of her injuries, the victim was first taken by medic to Catawba Valley Medical Center for treatment and then interviewed by detectives.
The victim says she was held down for more than two hours on Thursday and beaten at Farnsworth’s home. Then on Friday, she says he beat her about the face and ribs and choked her to the point of nearly passing out.
Investigators obtained search warrants for Farnsworth’s home following the interview. He was arrested and charged after the search.
