Police: Man Arrested For Breaking Into Several Charlotte Businesses

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested a man after they say he broke into several businesses in the Charlotte area over the past month.

Anthony Lucas, 42, is facing charges for a number of breaking and entering incidents.

  • June 13, 9:02 a.m. – Studio East Styling Studio, 8829 E. WT Harris Blvd. According to a witness, Lucas smashed a window and entered the business and took property from inside.
  • June 27, 12:25 a.m.- Chin Chin, 6404 Albemarle Road. Police say Lucas used a large rock to smash the front window. He then took money from inside the business. Officers were unable to track him.

On Monday, July 2, police found Lucas walking in the 7000 block of Lawyers Road and arrested him. During the arrest, Lucas provided false information to officers and was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lucas was charged with two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, two counts of Larceny after B&E, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest.

Independence Division Detectives worked alongside Hickory Grove Detectives and were able to identify Lucas as the suspect in six, additional commercial break-ins that occurred on Sunday, July 1.  Arrest warrants have been obtained against Lucas for the following cases.
