Woman Charged After CMPD Officer Injured In Motorcycle Crash
CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman is facing charges after a CMPD officer was injured in a crash on North Graham Street Friday morning.
Officer Michael Homan was operating a 2011 Suzuki DRZ 400S around 9:50am when officials say 27-year-old Lamonda Sloan turned in front of him on North Graham at Keswick Avenue.
According to reports, a semi-truck was stopped in the far right northbound lane on N. Graham just before Keswick due to construction. Homan was in the left northbound lane passing the stopped truck when Sloan reportedly turned left into his path.
Homan hit the left side of her 2004 Chrysler Sebring and was thrown across the vehicle. Homan was taken to CMC with serious injuries, but is expected to recover.
Sloan has been charged with Driving While License Revoked, Fictitious Registration Plate, No Liability Insurance, Failure to Yield Right-of-Way, and Unsafe Movement.
The investigation is ongoing.
