LENOIR, NC — A 78-year-old Rowan County man was killed when a tree fell on his truck during Friday’s severe thunderstorms.
The accident happened just before 3pm on Dimmette Road just outside the entrance to Green Mountain Park. Investigators say Sidney Albright was leaving the park in his Chevrolet Silverado when the tree came down on top of him.
Caldwell County EMS pronounced Albright dead at the scene.
Police say two other family members were in the truck with Albright. They both were taken to Caldwell UNC Healthcare with minor injuries and are expected to recover fully.
The investigation is ongoing.
