CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have charged a suspect after one person was shot during an argument in Plaza Midwood early Wednesday.
28-year-old James Simmons has been charged in connection to the shooting that happened around 2:30 a.m. on Central Avenue near Carter Avenue.
Officers with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department say two people were shooting at each other in the 1200 block of Central Avenue. The victim, a bartender at Pint Central, was taken to CMC with serious injuries.
A short time later, officers were sent to the 1000 block of Carter Avenue where they located the second person involved in the incident. The second person did not have a gunshot wound but was transported to CMC for injuries sustained during the fight with the first victim.
Simmons is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.
Pint Central says the employee is in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
