Police: Huntersville Doctor Charged For Writing Fake Drug Prescriptions At Rock Hill Pharmacies

ROCK HILL, SC — A doctor from Huntersville, NC was arrested Thursday for allegedly writing numerous phony prescriptions at three Rock Hill pharmacies.

Police say Byron Christopher Leak, 41, and another suspect worked together to buy more than 150 grams of Oxycodone from CVS pharmacies on Heckle Boulevard, Celanese Road and Cherry Road between February and March. Police have not yet identified Leak’s accomplice, but say Leak admitted to selling the prescriptions for money when questioned by investigating agents.

Records show Leak voluntarily surrendered his medical license on May 28 following an arrest for six drug charges in Mecklenburg County. Leak was out on bond at the time of this arrest.

Leak is being held at the York County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
