Police Arrest Suspect In Concord Homicide

CONCORD, NC — A 38-year-old woman has been charged with killing a man at his home early Friday morning.

Police say Markeysa Sherrill has been arrested for the 1st Degree Murder of Michael Lee Washington. Washington, 60, was found dead inside his home on Melrose Drive shortly before 5am.

According to investigators, Washington was stabbed during an altercation with Sherrill and died from those injuries. Sherrill was an acquaintance of Washington’s, officials say, and would often stay with him at his home.

Sherrill is being held at the Cabarrus County Jail under no bond.
