CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A home in south Charlotte went up in flames early Monday.
Firefighters with the Charlotte Fire Department were called around 2:30 a.m. to control a blaze that took over a 2-story home in the 5100 block of Hardison Road.
The home was engulfed in heavy smoke and flames.
Officials say five people escaped unharmed. Homeowners think the fire started in the back of the house.
Firefighters were able to control the fire in 50 minutes.
What started the fire is under investigation.
