CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has been arrested and charged with three armed robberies in the Charlotte area over the last two months.
On July 1st, 2018, CMPD officers responded to an armed robbery at the Family Dollar located at 1025 W. Sugar Creek Road.
An employee told police that a white vehicle pulled up beside her in the parking lot and a man got out and pointed a gun at her. The suspect then robbed of money from the business before fleeing in the white vehicle.
An investigation led to detectives identifying Phillip Leggett, 23, as the suspect. On July 12th, 2018, Leggett was arrested by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team without incident.
Additional information was gathered which led to Leggett being named as a suspect in two other armed robberies.
Leggett was named as a suspect in a May 26th armed robbery an attempted armed robbery in the 3200 block of Eastway Drive and a June 8th armed robbery in the 4900 block of Central Avenue.
Leggett was charged with two counts of Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and one count of Attempted Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
