3rd Suspect In Deadly Shooting At University Area Hotel Arrested In New Mexico

Police say Jamaal Griffin, 33, was arrested Wednesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico by FBI Special Agents working with CMPD’s VCAT Unit. Griffin is charged with Attempted Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, and the Murder of 32-year-old Churchill Zoker.
Griffin will be extradited back to Charlotte to face the charges, but officials have not yet said when that will happen.

Police have charged two suspects in connection to a deadly shooting Saturday evening.
Jasmine Ingram, 18, and Abagail Johnson, 18, have each been charged with the murder of Churchill Zoker, as well as Attempted Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
Officials say Ingram was arrested in Charlotte on Thursday, and Johnson was arrested on Thursday in Cleveland, Virginia. Johnson will be extradited back to North Carolina, but officials have not said how long that may take.
A third suspect, 33-year-old Jamaal Shawkir Griffin, is also wanted in connection to Zoker’s murder.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Mecklenburg police are searching for the suspect who they shot and killed a man in the University area over the weekend.
Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call around 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 in the 100 block of E. McCullough Drive at the Extended Stay America where they found 32-year-old Churchill Zoker suffering with gunshot wounds.
Zoker was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He died a short time later at the hospital.
Police are still searching for the shooter.
