CHERAW, SC — Troopers are investigating after a driver was found dead in their vehicle Sunday evening.
The vehicle was discovered in a wooded area beside US 52 near US Highway 1 around 6:40pm. Investigators say the driver of a 2006 Mazda RX-8 was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to troopers, the vehicle was going around a curve when it ran off the left side of the road and into some trees. The driver was seat belted, but died in the crash.
Investigators say they still do not know what caused the accident, or when it occurred.
The investigation is ongoing.
