Two Dead In Fatal Airplane Crash Near Lincoln County Airport
LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Two people are dead after a plane crashed in a field near the Lincoln County Airport.
The FAA says 63-year-old Teddy Heavner, the pilot and owner of the plane, and 54-year-old Basil Sain, a passenger, both died in the crash.
According to Lincoln County Communications, a Piper Cherokee plane was taking off from Lincoln County Airport for an air show in Wisconsin. Shortly after take off, the plane came down around 5:40 a.m. on Jack Dellinger Drive.
A witness told authorities they heard a low flying plane and then saw the crash.
The cause is still under investigation.
