Suspect Robs 3 Different People Making Deposits At The Same ATM
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are searching for a man who they say robbed three people at gunpoint at the same Ballantyne ATM.
These armed robberies have all happened in a span of three weeks. Each victim trying to make a deposit at the Bank of America ATM off Conlan Circle.
Police say the robber struck again Monday night, robbing a 43-year-old woman at gunpoint. Michael McGraw uses the ATM, but only when it’s light out.
“It makes you want to be careful, keep your eyes out, not late at night or anything crazy,” says Ballantyne resident Michael McGraw.
According to police, the same suspect robbed a man around 11:30 pm on July 1st as he tried to make a deposit. They say the same guy struck again on July 10th. A 22-year-old woman says a masked man robbed her at gunpoint around 11:30 pm.
WCCB Charlotte’s Alexandra Elich talked to one of the victims on the phone, who told her, they were terrified. They say they froze when they saw a man coming at them with a gun. They gave the guy the money and called police.
WCCB also talked to another victim on the phone. She says she believes the suspect has an accomplice.
Bank of America spokesperson says: “Safety is always our priority, and we are increasing patrols in the area in addition to continuing to work closely with law enforcement on this issue.”
