Union County Man Charged With Shooting Son During Domestic Dispute

MONROE, N.C.  — A Union County man has been arrested and charged with shooting his son during a domestic dispute.

On Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 just before 1:00 a.m., Union County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call in the 700 block of Baucom Road regarding an assault between a man and his son.

Investigators determined that the unnamed 38-year-old victim was arguing with his wife when his father, Bobby Junior Purser, 62, became involved.

Detectives say Purser fired several shots, two of which struck his son in the abdomen.

The victim is in critical but stable condition at Carolinas Medical Center-Main

Purser is charged with Assault with A Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.

The circumstances that led up to the shooting are still being investigated.
