Mother Wants To Change 4-Year Old Daughter’s Name Because It Is Too Common
One mom says her 4-year-old daughter’s name isn’t as unique as she thought, so now she’s considering legally changing it.
She isn’t alone; a surprising number of parents regret the name they gave their child.
According to the website Baby Center, nearly 1-in-10 parents say they would pick something different if they could.
A mom in England now wishes she didn’t name her 4-year-old daughter Esmée.
She wrote in a web post that she picked it because her father is French and she hadn’t heard of a girl with that name in 20 years.
But now her child is set to start school with two other girls also named Esmée, just spelled differently.
The mom wrote anonymously on the parenting site MumsNet, “Am I being unreasonable to change my darling daughter’s name before September?
I love her name, but hate it’s so common now. Maybe an overreaction, but in the 1970’s I was one of five named the same in my class and vowed never to have my children live with the same.”
