CMPD Investigating Series Of South Charlotte Residential Break-Ins
CHARLOTE, N.C. — The CMPD is investigating after someone broke into two homes and attempted to break into two others in south Charlotte early Saturday morning.
The first incident occurred at about 3:41 a.m. in the 400 block of E Tremont Avenue. Police say the suspect tried to enter the house by kicking in the back door.
At 4:09 a.m., a suspect kicked in the back door of a home in the 1900 block of Maryland Avenue and stole items inside.
Shortly thereafter at around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a call in the 3200 block of Selwyn Avenue. The victim stated that the suspect kicked in the back door and took property from inside the residence.
Later that morning at about 11:24 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the 5500 block of Closeburn Road where a victim said a suspect tried to enter the house by cutting the screen on the porch.
At 4:47 a.m. Saturday morning, officers located a suspicious unoccupied vehicle in the 5500 block of Closeburn Road. The vehicle was a white 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 Longhorn which had been stole from a residence in the 1900 block of Springdale avenue.
The vehicle was found running with a number of items believed to be related to the earlier breaking and entering cases inside.
The CMPD set up a perimeter and a K-9 unit responded but no suspects were located.
Police have increased patrols in the area and if anyone hears or sees anything suspicious they are encouraged to call 911.
