Firefighter Injured While Battling Gastonia House Fire

GASTONIA, NC — A firefighter was injured Wednesday morning while battling a blaze at a home on School Avenue.

Officials say an off-duty firefigher spotted smoke coming from the home shortly after 11am and called 911. It took crews about 10 minutes to bring the fully engulfed house under control.

Officials say no one was home when the fire broke out. One fireman suffered a minor burn to his face, but officials say he is expected to fully recover.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
