HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Officials are trying to determine if a lightning strike caused a house fire on Oxfordshire Court Monday night.

Huntersville Fire says the call came in around 6:45pm. Smoke and fire were seen coming from the roof when crews arrived.

The fire was contained to the attic, according to officials, and no injuries were reported.

Neighbors have told investigators that lightning struck the home shortly before the fire started. The home owners were not home when the strike occurred.

The investigation is ongoing.
