Three Arrested For Breaking Into Vehicles In Burke County

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies say they arrested three people for breaking into several vehicles in Burke County.

Investigators say they received numerous reports of break-ins to unlocked vehicles in the area of Hopewell Road from June 27th-July 24th.  The suspects were reportedly stealing random items from the vehicles, including gas.

On July 24th, a deputy patrolling the area of Hopewell Road noticed a vehicle parked on the side of the road around 4am.  Deputies say Jessica Exline was sitting in the driver’s seat and told the deputy she was out of gas and waiting for her friends to come back with fuel.

While talking to Exline, deputies say Michael Denton Jr. and David Burhans walked up to the vehicle from different locations.  Both men were arrested on unrelated charges.

After conducting numerous interviews, deputies determined the three suspects were involved in the vehicle break-ins.

They have been charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected, according to a news release.
