CHARLOTTE, NC — A 28-year-old man is facing a variety of charges after police say he kidnapped a juvenile and sexually assaulted them.
Zachary Gibson allegedly picked up the victim early Friday morning. Local authorities contacted CMPD after the minor was reported missing, and Gibson was identified as the suspect.
CMPD says the victim was found inside Gibson’s home, and later told investigators that they had been sexually assaulted by the suspect.
Investigators say they were able to obtain seven warrants for Gibson’s arrest based on evidence collected from his home.
On Monday morning, police arrested Gibson and charged him with two counts of Indecent Liberties, 1st Degree Kidnapping, Felonious Restraint, Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction, Statutory Rape, and Statutory Sex Offense.
CMPD has not provided any further details on Gibson’s charges at this time, or his relationship to the victim.
The investigation is ongoing.
